Sequence of a Horse in Motion (Live)

Live Art Installation

About

The audience enters a big space. Vague lights seem to enter through holes in the roof. Little is revealed of the surroundings. The people must be quiet, no hectic movements so they won't distract the animal.

The floor vibrates in a regular rhythm. Dust is filling the air. The horses’ hooves hit the floor, nervous but controlled, in a fast trot. The audience finds a spot to observe what is taking place close to the circle made up of old chairs. It's a weak boundary between them and the action.

The horse is connected to a bandage, which is connected to the feet of a man. He is lying on the floor and is slowly being pulled upside down. The horse circles the man and with each circle the horse trots, the bandage wraps around him. First around the feet, then the legs and finally around the entire body and the head.  The horse comes to a halt. He approaches the dancers as if wanting to understand what it has done.

Artist Statement

"This show took me 10 years to realize. It is based on a nightmare I had, which took place in an attic. I wanted to invite people into my nightmare, so I built it as a sequence to experience."
