multimedia performance
In this General Assembly of German-speaking Reich citizens and self-administrators, performance group internil examines the Reich Citizens’ Movement. Departing from real source material such as initiation rites, state-founding ceremonies, training and documentation videos, “Staatenlos” (“Stateless”) unveils the ideological bubble of this movement. It brings to the stage the Reich Citizens’ worldview as a supposed reality, thereby blending fact and fiction. The audience sits in the middle of the stage, surrounded by an extensive scenography, and is immersed in a strange world of crude ideologies that manifests through a multimedia installation. The performance was preceded by a research phase including a participatory “Reich Practice Workshop”.
“Staatenlos” is a production by internil in cooperation with Theaterdiscounter Berlin and Vierte Welt Berlin, co-produced by NFT Netzwerk Freier Theater, and funded by Hauptstadtkulturfonds.
